I became the Podcast Editor and co-producer of The Phoenix Cast by chance and proximity. I stepped in to help, and have stayed to build.

A small group of highly motivated U.S. Marines had a compelling idea: create a platform to advocate for innovation, cybersecurity, and the evolving information environment within the Marine Corps. What they needed was someone who could

The Phoenix Cast

A podcast about cybersecurity, technology and innovation issues in the military.

translate that idea into a professional, sustainable show. I brought the technical, editorial, and production skills to make it happen.

I helped build the podcast’s production workflow and continue to edit each episode with a focus on clarity, credibility, and audience impact.

I take the individual raw audio tracks recorded in Zencastr and turn them into polished, broadcast-ready podcast episodes. This includes balancing and matching each speaker's audio so it sounds like everyone was recorded in the same room, reducing background noise, removing distracting breaths or mouth sounds when needed, leveling volume, and applying EQ and compression to create a consistent listening experience. I then edit the conversation for flow by removing long pauses, misstarts, and technical glitches while preserving the natural tone of the discussion. Finally, I add the podcast's intro and outro music, export the episode to the required specifications, perform a final quality check, and deliver a finished file ready for publishing.

What began as informal support evolved into long-term ownership. More than 130 episodes later, The Phoenix Cast has grown into a consistent, respected forum for conversations with senior leaders and subject-matter experts across defense, technology, and cyberspace operations.

And we have a lot of fun along the way.

Podcasts build trust, create authority, and build community.

People listen because something made them curious. Every multimedia asset is designed to create that moment of curiosity. A compelling video clip, a memorable quote, or a striking visual gives potential listeners a reason to stop scrolling, connect with the content, and decide the full episode is worth their time.

I oversee the entire podcast marketing process, from finding the right podcast hosts and preparing interview talking points to editing compelling video clips and creating social media content that captures attention, sparks curiosity, and encourages audiences to listen to the full episode.
